Title: thermostat housing removal
Post by ml on Nov 7th, 2006, 11:44am
Hi
Having a major headache with my 1995 2.0i DOHC 16v ultima estate.

Firstly have just replaced fuel shut-off loom due to severe baking of wires. During this replacement i noticed the engine temp sender was damaged. Got replacement from fords and set about changing it. Removed the old sender and fitted new one in place when suddenly the b****r sheared off.

Now i have half the sender stuck in the thermostat housing. I figure i now need to remove the housing in order to remove the remainder of the sender. Trouble is i can only see the top mounting bolt which is not exactly easy to get to.

Can anyone advise on the procedure for removing the thermostat housing ie what needs to be removed (& how) in order to access the mounting bolts.

Anyway ordered another sender & housing seal from fords in readiness (sure the guy was sblack personing under his breath!!).

thanking you all for responses, much obliged

black personing lol dont you just love censorship :)

I have a spare 2.0 housing if you would rather just replace it with the new sensor in it

lol, oh what joy!!

Just got a better look and housing is part of manifold and I aint ruining my chocolate spanners in trying to take it off. Time to invest in a dremel and drill it out in situ me thinks.
