Title: Timer Module ?? Post by Jim on Nov 10th, 2006, 11:54pm After several months of gremlin free motoring I have been found by them again. This morning being a bit frosty used heated screens. They did not turn off. Used intermitant wipe it kept wiping and would not turn off. internal lights would not turn off when doors opened and closed. All cleared when ignition turned off and then on. Fault returned when function used again. I think it looks like the timer module. I will remove battery tomorow to see if it resets. Any further ideas or comments |

Title: Re: Timer Module ?? Post by Simmo on Nov 11th, 2006, 7:32am Sounds more like water ingress in one of the fuseboxes or a multiplug which has corrosion. |

Title: Re: Timer Module ?? Post by Jim on Nov 11th, 2006, 9:58am Resolved (for the time being). Thanks Simmo for the ideas. I checked for water ingress and all was clean and dry. Like most long term Scorpio owners I am quite paranoid about keeping water and fuse boxes well apart and would fit umbrellas over them if I had the room. Disconnected the battery for one hour, reconnected and all the gremlins had run away. Thanks fro the interest. ;D |

Title: Re: Timer Module ?? Post by Simmo on Nov 11th, 2006, 2:14pm Glad to hear that Jim. Could it be then that the battery is 'on its way out' ?. As I'm sure you know these cars need a whole load of power to start and sometimes the first signs of a problem is the type of erratic fault you describe. Have you tried the battery diagnostic check?. The recent spell of cold weather may well have put more strain than normal on the battery and thus the recent faults. :) |
