Title: I bit the bullet Eric ....24v flooding
Post by Frank on Nov 11th, 2006, 10:36am
On Eric`s kind advice I changed the the fuel rail pressre regulator and it had no effect...........ant further help would be appreciated....to restate the problem..from cold car starts perfectly but after about 10 minutes when warmed up the rev counter shoots up to 3000 rpm and all the injectors fllood the engine to the extent that petrol comes out of the exhaust..........if you leave the car a day or so repeat performance.....someone here suggested the ECT.........what is that please..btw TPS PCM and injector wiring replaced already.

ECT is the sensor that tells the ECU what the temp of the engine is.

Won't be expensive so next on the shopping list I reckon.

When you fitted the new reg did you check the fuel pressure after?

Have you had the car scanned & what are the results.

The car is at a garage so I do not know if the pressure was checked afterwards............no fault codes have been thrown up to indicate what the problem is...there was one for the TPS but I have changed that....will try the ECT as you suggest....many thanks for your help

Not sure if this going to be any help at all, but I recently bought a brand new fuel reg from Fords & it turned out to be faulty.

The Scorp wouldn't start when hot....I didn't have this problem before.

Convinced it was the new fuel reg I took it back to Fords & bought a new one, & it's been fine ever since.

I'm still waiting to hear the test results on the one I took back....& hopefully I might get a refund sometime in the next decade ::)

Thanks for that.......one other point how would a dodgy  ECT affect fuelling please?

If the sensor keeps telling the engine it's still cold , the ECU will over fuel just as if it's left on choke.
