Title: Another wiper problem Post by FishHead on Nov 15th, 2006, 11:33am I can't find this so far so here goes.... I've suffered intermittently with the problem of the cup and ball joint in the wiper linkage and had success with elastic bands (which eventually perished), Tesco Carrier bags (needs must on M5 in the rain) and have same cable ties for when this was to fail - see http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/wiperlinks.htm However, yesterday (in the rain, natch) the offside wiper stopped working but the nearside carried on - all thie bits under the grill (ie inside the engine cavity) seem to work but the wiper itself doesn't. Does this mean I just need a new Short Arm - Finis 6 127 673 about £6 - or is this something else? Hope it doesn't rain anytime soon - gulp TIA for any help Fish |

Title: Re: Another wiper problem Post by harry.m1byt on Nov 15th, 2006, 7:01pm If ALL of the bits under the bonnet are moving then it must be the wiper arm slipping on the splins. Try tightening the nut which holds the arm onto the splins, but usually this happens because the splins are worn. |

Title: Re: Another wiper problem Post by FishHead on Nov 15th, 2006, 8:52pm :-[ Thanks, Harry, that was exactly it. Just got in and was just about to share my embarrassment ... Turned up at a local garage and it took him about 20 seconds, he didn't want anything but I paid him £900 per hour - it was worth it to me, and now I know next time. Ta again Fish |
