had a problem with my n reg 20lt estate wife came home the other night no rear side light ,number plate or dash lights it turned out to be the main light switch inside the car replaced it with one from my spare car and she came home tonight and its blown the switch again by the looks of it. has anybody any idea of what might be causing the problem ???

Are you certain it's the switch? have you tested it with a multimeter?

Could be the classic 'loose multiplug on main fusebox' or if it is really blowing the switch, a shorting loom. Does it blow any fuses?

Switches are known to go but two in that space of time is...strange

Are relays 3 and 6 in the main fusebox working?

what lights was she using - dipped or full?

Have you checked the actual connector behind the light switch. One of the pins  often overheats. Could it have melted the wire leading to it causing a short?.
