my wiper linkage has gone on my ford scorpio. dealer wants £175 to fix it-does anyone think this is daylight robbery?? does any scottish member have a spare wiper linkage that i could buy off them as i feel the dealer is a robbing mo fo. any help or advice on this would be great. :) thanks

thanks, ive already had a look at this and when i put the cable ties on they just snapped. i used the black ones-r they strong enough or is there industrial type cable ties?

You can just purchase the new arms as stated in the article.
Your FMD is only quoting you the price of the complete thing which is as listed in the Ford Parts catalogue. .. He obvioulsy is NOT prepared just to fit the arm as we know they can be.
I have only just fitted a new on to my own Scorpio so they are readily available.

Yep I have the complete linkage plus motor, yours for £170 ;)

can you tell me the exact bit i need-do u have the parts no's for the long and short arm and is it the granada part that i can only buy seperately. the ford dealer said i can onlt buy the whole thing-so where do i go from here.
i am typing this for whamburto as he is working and is trying to drive in the pouring rain with no wipers-please help-thankyou very much for all your help. ;D

highlander-im typin this for whamburto but as far as hes told me, he only needs the wiper linkage-the motor is still makin a noise as though it is still working-when he pops the bit back in the slot the wipers work but then it pops out again-would you be willing to seperate it and how much? thanks

Its the whole thing I have, it would be easier just replacing yours than trying to remove arms i think, its just a few bolts and a plug for the motor.

It is a Scorpio you have (1995-98 ) and not a Granada is it??
Been caught out so many times by this you wouldn't believe ;)

i have had this problem before , i always run a small drill down the very centre of the cup and the ball socket and then put a small split pin though

it works for the cars i have had in the past

thanks for all the help guys...great as usual...special mention to stuart(highlander)who met me at short notice to pass on his spare wiper linkage and gave me advice on how to fit it,fitted it today and im glad to say my wipers are working again....relief!!thanks again..
