??? :( Had car for 2 months now (1998 24v estate) and car goes like a rocket! 2 weeks ago engine cuts out when selecting reverse from park. Start car in neutral and select drive and everything is ok but select reverse from neutral and engine cuts again! Car is getting heavy to push every time I need reverse :)!

Could be a range switch problem,or loom problem, does sound like something is shorting,do the reverse lights work?

hi, have you tried cleaning the maf? not sure if it is the prob but it can cause all sorts of weird problems to the gearbox if it is dirty, in case you havent here is a link that explain all .

Yes reverse lights do work.
Car is in with local Ford dealer at moment (fuel pump not getting electrical feed?)but will tell them to try cleaning MAF and see if that helps gearbox - Cheers :)
