What is the plastic switch under accelerator pedal?(Mounted in to footwell). Normally you have a metal stop there but this seems to have a switch built into it. Is something to do with WOT detection or kickdown?
Guy.

Isn't that the throttle position sensor? Or am I wrong?

The TPS is on the engine inlet manifold and senses the actual position of the butterfly valve providing feedback of position to the EEC. If it were on the foot pedal and you used cruise control it would no longer provide a true position to the EEC.

I thought it was the kickdown switch too, kickdown on mine seems to start a bit eariler in the throttle travel though, I think it's done through the tps nowadays.

hi there

it not connected to anything. the throttle opens to about 80%, then by another 13% at wide open throttle.
