Title: Re: Engine judders Post by scorpio_man on Mar 10th, 2007, 4:37pm hi there could be the a/c kicking in. if your compressor is siezing a bit, then this will pull the revs down. have a look at it (r/h/s of engine). watch it switch on and off. see if the revs fall and rise evenly. also give the idle by pass valve a clean out. clean both 'holes' with carb cleaner and then work the 'ram' between the holes with a flat screwdriver. be gentle with it, though. once everything is clean, drop a couple of drops of 3 in 1 oil on the ram. make sure there's no air leak when you put it back on. hth |

Title: Re: Engine judders Post by pedropedro on Mar 10th, 2007, 4:41pm No a/c is off ...its a predictable time in almost exactly 10 secs sitting in drive or in neutral whatever ...runs smooth as can be then clunk you can almost hear a solenoid closing,,,,but ist not the a/c compressor...checked everywhere for air leaks but could have missed soemthing the time in thing is the clue i guess what is it that times in ?? |

Title: Re: Engine judders Post by tintin on Mar 10th, 2007, 6:17pm have you had the iacv off? i had similar symptoms, garage had put the valve back on back-to-front, as soon as you rev it, the revs held high for 10 seconds, then dropped back down. i presume the ecu tries to control it, then gives up and returns to factory defaults or something ??? anyway, thanks to Highlander, its back on the right way round and now idle is dead on 850rpm all times ;D |

Title: Re: Engine judders Post by jonnycab on Mar 12th, 2007, 12:15am Even though the IACV valve, spring & spindle may look as they are working okay.... ....It's the solenoid that makes the mechanical bits work.......If the solenoid is faulty, then the valve won't work properly ;) |
