Hi all,as the weather of late has been so nice ive just started to drive with the window open.Today noticed a weird noise coming from the front end.Best described as the sound a 4 inch diameter washer would make if you slipped it over say your exhaust and rattled it.Seems its worse over bumpy roads and on motorways etc cant be heard.Ive looked underneath for any obvious loose bits but havnt removed the plastic engine tray.Anyone experienced similar noise.......im clueless on mechanics a trip to the garage needed u think? :-/ :o

Could well be the catalyst which has become loose in the exhaust. Or even some of the baffles in the silencer. You need to get underneath and give things a good checking over.

[] wifes mondeo was making same noise catalyst was breaking up.

Good description Cleave....a four inch diameter washer slipped over the exhaust..

I've noticed this sound for about a month now, but never worried about it, as there always seems to be another, more urgent problem.

A new cat may be the order of the day for both of us ;)

Mine has the same noise, sounds like something is loose under the car or like something is inside the exhast?? please dotn tell me that my cat is on the way out, that makes another problem to add to the growing list

I had a similar noise - was the heat shield, engine end of the exhaust!
