Title: Clicking noise when turning Post by Gaffer on Mar 18th, 2007, 11:56am Hi all, just recently when turning right, there is what can best be described as a clicking noise coming from what sounds like the left os of the car. it happens at any speed and also if i turn right a small fraction or all the way to hard lock. There is no vibration just a very loud noise. Have just jacked up rear of car and checked for movement in rear wheels thinking bearings may be the cause, but there is no movement in wheels at all. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. ??? ??? She is a 1995 2000cc 16v Ultima Auto if this helps. Thanks in advance Gaffer Not being mechanically minded, i have also read that this may be causedby dry cv joints. If anyone thinks this is true, could you please advise me the method for sorting this...in laymans terms lol. Thanks |

Title: Re: Clicking noise when turning Post by wudz on Mar 18th, 2007, 7:23pm Hi, Had similar problem same model, more so when towing. There are two joints per rear drive shaft, both with rubber gaiters that are clamped with large jubilee clips, two per gatier, I only undid the large ones and rolled back the gaiter back and then pushed and thruched a pack of joint grease while some one rotates the wheel slowly. It has been OK since. One clip on mine had to be cut off as they were not the screw type...so get the same size normal clips to replace it. Cheers John |
