Title: Re: Cosworth engine oil Post by Dave2302 on Mar 21st, 2007, 5:47pm Hi, Strictly the proper Ford fully synthetic, and genuine Ford Oil filter. This definitely helps with cam chain "Brrrrrp" on cold starts. Regards Dave |

Title: Re: Cosworth engine oil Post by Pegasus on Mar 22nd, 2007, 1:28pm Hi there, any good oil to spec should do but I've used Magnatec 5W/30 for years since the last FMD service guy told me they use Castrol A1 (trade version) as one of the recommended oils (and he said Ford had changed the spec from 10W/40 as quoted in the handbook) Definately, always use the Ford oil filter (EFL298 ) I rarely get a rattle (and then only a brief brrrp) but expect it after oil change and esp after degunking engine prior to change - it'll sette down after about a dozen start ups Paul |

Title: Re: Cosworth engine oil Post by david_molloy on Mar 24th, 2007, 12:00am Hello For what it's worth I use AMSOIL Not cheap but..... Next oil change I'm dropping from 5W.. to 0W.. Changing from whatever was in mine when I got it to AMSOIL 5W.. made very slight cam chain noise at start--up virtually disappear - still there but have to really listern for it after standing a day or so. Hope using 0W makes it even less Use Ford filter at least... anything else is false economy. david |
