Title: Auto box 2.9 12v
Post by MARTIND on Mar 24th, 2007, 9:58pm
Gonna be Lazy here

Had to top up the auto gearbox lots when I got her

she doesn't appear to slip that much (could do to drive a sound 2.9 12v just to see if I'm expecting too much)

level hasn't lowered in the last couple of weeks , so hopefully not a issue there

fluid aint a lovely red though - brown more like (no bits - (did do a little bit of research see )

Do I just leave as is or do I change the fluid - filter etc ?

will I notice a difference - or will I be wasting my time , money etc

thanks Martin

Hi marin, jim again, you sure you not driving my car lol, have a look on the main screen of this page, it tells you about the gear box oil. Mine is the same colour, so, when my new filter finally comes through im going to replace the auto box oil.  What ever you do dont go to fords for a filter, they want around 35 pound for just the filter,
jim

IF the gearbox is working ok then it will benefit from a fluid and filter change.

In my experience it makes the 'box quieter and smoother by quite a margin.

:)

[] wont't do any harm to change it. after all you change your engine oil on a regular basis so why not the gearbox? and remember a gear box is a very expensive bit of kit, abuse it and your wallet will be a lot lighter.
