finally got my scorps crank pulley sorted ;D, car all back together, new coolant etc works a treat, so think, time to put my new alloys on. i start with front nearside, car lifted, all wheel bolts, wheel wont budge, not an inch, not even a millimetre! i gave taps with rubber mallet, still nothing!!!!!?
anyone else had this?

Not THAT bad, no, but they can be "sticky" sometimes.. just try rocking the tyre a bit. (Oh, and spray some WD40 between the hub and the wheel :))

i've seen me going underneath and kicking the wheel off from there! and that's with them torqued on. :o

It happens because of the reaction of the Alloy with the steel on the disc and the salt form the road. The only method is to take all the wheel nuts off an slowly turn the wheel and kick it at the bottom as it is turned. When you do eventually get it off smear some copper lease on the inner face where it meets the hub/disc, before retightening the wheel nuts. Other way is as Andrew states getting underneath and kicking , but IMHO that is fraught with danger even if its on axle stands. GOOD LUCK .

Phil, As Andrew says alloys are notorious for this problem. The alloy reacts with the steel of the hub and has the same effect as rust. When re-fitting you should remove all deposits from the hub,particularly the rim which the actual centre hole of the wheel slips over, and coat all 'touching' surfaces with 'Coppaslip'. I once had this on another car and I've never put a wheel back on since without going through the procedure. You could try replacing the wheelnuts not quite tight and letting the car down to see if the weight will help 'break' the seal. Other than that its WD40 and/or brute strength. Had this a few weeks back on the Capri. The alloys haven't been off since 1996 and the brakes have seized and the tyres rotted ::).

Couldn't even hammer them off, ended up loosening the nuts and letting the car down off the jack several times...that sorted it ;)

Not that I want to endorse anything seen as dangerous but it did the trick ;)

cheers for the replies, interesting about the alloy and steel, you learn something new everyday. well i had another quick go, the axle stands started to rock so stopped. went to quick fit, ok it cost me money but was safer, even they struggled. i wonder if its something to do with the cheap discs i bought from ebay, brand new including pads, 32 quid including postage ::), i think i've found out why they were so cheap lol. oh well, job done, car looks a lot better.......
