Title: Broken Boot Mechanism Post by mazzy_j on Apr 3rd, 2007, 12:44pm Of all the things i thought could go wrong with the scorpio the boot lock throwing a strop was the least expected :-/ The first problem was that it wouldnt catch when closed, so opened up straight away after pushing it down, after some poking around behind the trim panel i found that by pushing the slightly golden coloured arm caused it to now lock shut :) Good i thought, until i tried to open it... of course it didnt budge (even off the remote) :( Now the only way of opening the boot is to fold the back seats down and half climb in the boot and flick the catch. Not exactly ideal so was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how they fixed it because its a bit annoying to say the least!! Thanks, Matt |

Title: Re: Broken Boot Mechanism Post by mr._floppy on Apr 3rd, 2007, 5:12pm Check out the other threads on the problem page on the same subject, namely : Tailgate Popper Back Trunk Unlocks I'd guess it's your lock motor that's shot. The Mondeo uses the same motor so used spares should be plentiful and cheap. |

Title: Re: Broken Boot Mechanism Post by mazzy_j on Apr 3rd, 2007, 7:34pm Thanks, I noticed the wont open thread after i'd posted, bit of a blind moment ::) The thing is with mine i can push the silver lock/open button on the boot as per usual, and instead of the clunk unlatching sound it makes a quite sort of 'tap'. I think the culprit is a little solenoid found behind the lock which is fired when you push the button, which then pushes on the arm and so unlocking the boot. Matt |

Title: Re: Broken Boot Mechanism Post by Tompion on Apr 3rd, 2007, 7:43pm Hi Matt I'd of thought it would still unlock using the key mine did, the problem was a broken tooth on one of the gears of the unlock motor. Dave |
