hi there, going to do an oil change on my 2.0 16v 95 ultima and i have got 5 litres 5w30 that i was going to use on a mondeo i used to own. I went down my local halfords and their guide says 5w30 is the oil for my car but the car mechanics feature on servicing the scorpio recomends 10w40 can i use the oil i have got or should i buy 10w40? ???

5w-30 is the oil for the 2.3 at least, but should be fine in the 2.0.

I always used to put 5W/30 semi-synthetic in my previous 2.0 Scorp & never had any problems.... :)

When I gave it away ::), at Chelmsford car auction, it was still running sweet with 180K miles on it ;)

i use 5w/30 in my 24v works a treat

I have just done an oil change on my 24v and used 5w30 as recommended by a local engine tuning specialist,it got rid of the slight rattle I had at startup. :)Roy.
