I have the 1995 V6 12 Valve ultima that had a TSB issued concerning a faulty SATC (Semi Automatic Temp Contol - Unit) and a faulty outside temprature sensor, and am having a problem trying to replace the sensor.

The "checking and Resetting the Climate Control" section on the site shows a diagram of the various components and the sensor, item no 14, is shown as alittle plug that connects just under the bonnet.

At the end of this section is a description of TSB 209/1995 that identifies the old Ford Part number and the Finis Code to order the new part. (Old part number is 95GW-19E642-AA, and Finis Code to order new part is 1 017 135). The new part when it arrived looked nothing like the part shown in the diagram and the Ford Part Number on the outside was the old part number which should not be installed.

Additionally the instructions for refitting the sensor which are also on the site talk about resoldering rather than refitting a plug that the diagram shows.

Thare are no new ford part numbers given for the SATc and the sensor which have Finis Codes of 1 017 462, and 1 017 135, respectively. Can any one tell me what these ner Ford part numbers should be and whether the write upo for refitting the sebsor refers to the wrong part.

Any help would be appreciated.

first of all, did you fix the restting issue (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action=display;num=1175508577)?

re the new part. do you have a photo of it? it sounds like the temp sensor which should be at the front of the car, just behind the bumper. :-/

Scorpio-man, thanks for your response. I have not been able to fix the rest yet but have disconnected the battery and that did not work, so it must be something to do with the way the garage refixed the control panel on the das, unless the SATC is duff.

AS far asteh Temp Sensor goes if you look in the Aircon workshop maual/system component/ext temp sensor, the aprt I got looks just like the diagram, a slim plastic type module witj a lot of wire attached, nothing like the diagram in the reset procedure section of he site.

I would still like to know what the correect ford part numbers are for the SATC and the sensor.

hi there

the sensor you should have is the slim one (i think). the one here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cabinfilters.htm), is from a very early car. i've never seen the 'bigger' one on any car i've seen.

does your car have the big one or the slim one (at the moment)?

pm your reg/vin number and i'll look it up.

btw, i'd check the ribbon cable between the units.

The sensor I have is the one shown as NO. 14 on the diagram for "checkingand resetting the Scorpio Climate Control".....the big one.

What exactly do you mean by checing the ribbon cable

My VIN No. is "WFO/F/XX/G/A/G/F/SS/31623" giving a build date of JUL 95

re the cable. just check it's plugged in correctly.

i can't find out any spec for your car. nothing comes up. no colour, trim, etc. very strange. ???

also can't find the sensor. :( any of them. not sure what they're listed as. if you look at the wiring diagrams, they changed in '96. not sure what to say. ??? :(
