Title: Cruise Control not working Post by jonnycab on Apr 8th, 2007, 10:49pm Yikes....all of a sudden my cruise control has gone :( It was working fine last night, but today on the A12...nothing....not even the green symbol on the dash ??? I've not had a chance to look into the matter yet (not even a fuse)....but any suggestions as to why it should suddenly stop working overnight will hopefully make for a quick solution :D |

Title: Re: Cruise Control not working Post by scorpio_man on Apr 9th, 2007, 2:45am hi jc sounds like an electrical issue with a switch. try hitting the on switch, then set it with + or -. if it works, you'll need to remove the steering wheel (i think), to get at the connections. next thing is the brake switch. hth |

Title: Re: Cruise Control not working Post by Simmo on Apr 9th, 2007, 7:51am JC, also check the cable connection to the throttle linkage. It is only a small plastic 'banjo' fitting and can slip off or be dislodged when working around that area. Mines been held in place with a tiny cable tie for years. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control not working Post by harry.m1byt on Apr 9th, 2007, 8:59am ...and just to add to the checklist - Check the actual cruise control module too. Mine was fixed after I found a slight bit of oxidisation on the pins of this. It is the small black box above your right knee as you are driving, just above the kick panel. Unpluging a few times should clear the oxidisation from the pins. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control not working Post by Scorpius on Apr 9th, 2007, 5:41pm Does your horn work? If the spiral wound ribbon cable in the steering wheel breaks, the cruise and horn will stop working. A partial break may stop either. Ian |

Title: Re: Cruise Control not working Post by jonnycab on Apr 9th, 2007, 8:30pm All fixed & working again... Scorpio_man wins first prize for suggesting the brake switch....the plunger was stuck in, so I pulled it out & it now works fine again ;D Not sure why it got stuck in though ?....it was a second hand one I got last year after I broke the original one when changing the heater matrix (removed brake pedal)........ If it happens again, then I reckon a new switch will be the order of the day ;)....I wonder how much FMD will want for one of those? ::) Thanks for all the theories guys....it makes the job alot easier when you've got a few ideas to go on ;) |
