Title: Re: dreaded cattlegird Post by jonnycab on Apr 11th, 2007, 12:48pm If it's only on the rear passenger side & it isn't the wheel bearing, then possibly a drive shaft bearing is at fault ? :-/ Cattle grid effect, as far as I've read on this site, is down to a torque converter/clutch problem, so it wouldn't be on just one side.....it would feel like the whole drive. Most MOT testers that I've met wouldn't know a broken wheel bearing if it hit them in the face....so don't rule out the wheel bearing. But then again, a broken wheel bearing will tend to squeak or squeal rather than rumble....so I would deffinately check the driveshaft bearings & possibly the diff....? :) Also, a unevenly worn tyre, unbalanced wheel, or even an out of shape rim can cause a rumble, especially at high speed :) |
