Title: COOLANT HEAD TANK CAP Post by ColinE on Apr 14th, 2007, 5:54pm Hi Guys Before I destroy it, when I took the cap off just the screw cap came off leaving a section in the top of the tank, I take it the cap should be fixed to this so the whole lot comes out, any thoughts please. Does any one have a spare cap I could purchase, I think I need to get a cap before trying to remove this, is it just a push fit into the tank, then tightened with the cap, I have had a dig at it, it does not seem to want to move. Thanks Colin |

Title: Re: COOLANT HEAD TANK CAP Post by scorpio_man on Apr 14th, 2007, 6:09pm hi there sounds like the pressure relief valve has been left behind. :-/ it''s a push then screw fit. i'd go for a new one as there was a design change during production. hth |

Title: Re: COOLANT HEAD TANK CAP Post by catalina on Apr 15th, 2007, 5:56pm On this subject, does anyone have details of the pressure caps for the various models. I have a 1996 Cosworth and a 1995 2L 16V. I suspect that the caps have been replaced and they do not have the correct pressure ratings. John |

Title: Re: COOLANT HEAD TANK CAP Post by ColinE on Apr 16th, 2007, 3:35pm Hi Guys Got a new cap this morning the Ford dealer had it in stock, the two numbers on the invoice are F 1029727 504101 Cap Ass £8.80 + vat 10.34. Broke the old one getting it out, there were two O rings on it, it appeared the top one had stretched and buckled back on its self cause the cap to jam up, the new one only has one O ring at the bottom, hope that is correct. I asked the guy if he wanted the chassis no, he told me the year was gooig enough. Hope this may help some one, I have smeared silicon grease round the new cap before fitting it. Colin |
