Title: Relays
Post by SCANWISE on May 17th, 2007, 9:20am
Hi guys, great site you have here, wish I'd seen it BEFORE I'd bought the car though!
Could anybody possibly tell me where (exactly) the relay for the indicators is. I believe its relay 29? I know its adjacent to the steering column but I don't want to pull anything apart if I don't have to. Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you got covers on your fuse boxes and battery?

Thanks guys, I have replaced the switch, the relay and

the fuse but still no joy! All covers are in place and

nothing appears to be damp. Any further advice?

Hi Sector-9,
Problem is, one night everything working fine, next morning no indicators, changed fuse, relay and finally switch, still no joy! After above realised there were no front lights either.

Check the multiplugs to the fuseboxes are seated properly, the faults you describe and other odd gremlins are a common symptoms of the plugs not being fully 'home'.

Thanks Bruce,
I'll give that a go, though I'm not optimistic!

In the 'Fault Finder' HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm) it suggests that if the headlights fail to come on a connector UNDER the main fuse-box should be checked. Whilst you are in  that area another cause of headlights/rear-lights not working correctly is the large connector behind the lighting switch which sometimes has a 'pin' overheat causing oxidisation and thus a poor connection.

Thanks again you guys. I've given up now as I couldn't
find the fault. I've left it in to a local autoelectrician
Three days ago and he hasn't been able to find the
fault yet either. I'll update when I get it back if ever

Update on my problem. Got the car back this evening,

everything appears to be working as it should (fingers

crossed) took them a while though and cost a bit too

Anyway it appears my main fusebox was broken,

they fitted a new one and all is well, for the time being.

Thanks for all your help on here, no doubt I'll be

hassling you all with some other problem in the not too

distant future.
