Title: rough idle sc 95
Post by albert on May 21st, 2007, 12:10pm
Hello !
I´ve got idling problems on a sc 95 2.0 l .It runs fine when I m driving,but on idle the engine not runs very well. The exhaust pipe is new,and also the egr pipe.Ive repaired the wirirng harness to the coils.There is small cracks in the coil connectors but I dont think that´s the problem.The maf is changed and the idle valve too. No fault codes on the wds..
.If any of you have experienced something like this please reply! I`m running out of good ideas. Could the chain timing be wrong?

 // Best regards Abbe

TPS may be faulty, in which case it will be have to be a new one, or maybe just the butterfly valves sticking in the throttle plate inlet. The spindles get carboned up, stick and jam, and keep the throttle from closing properly against the throttle stop screw. A thorough clean of the throttle assembly usually does the trick.
It's a fiddly job, especially round the spindles which are quite brittle and easily damaged, but with care, and plenty of carb cleaner, should produce results.

Whatever you do DON'T remove the throttle screw cover. this is factory set with good reason.

Cracks in the coil connectors Mmm.......... but somebody with the same car as yours will doubtless know.  ;)

Have a look at THIS page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/dohcloom.htm) which shows a faulty coil pack if that is the 'connector' you are referring to.

Hello!
Just want to report that the problem was air leakage in the egr system.Swapped the valve and the pipe behind the engine and the car runs just fine !

Thanks to all of you for the help !!

Best regards Abbe
