It's official.....I've finally cured that intermitant pinking problem that, to be honest, has had me literally screaming with frustration >:(

The Scorp's been running now for three days without so much as a slight rattle 8)

I couldn't post it straight away, as I had to be sure it had definately gone for good ;)

So now the problem is solved I suppose you all want to know the culprit that was causing me so much grief... ::)

Not gonna tell you...you'll have to guess :P

A clue......no one suggested it (as far as I can remember) :)

I can't give any prizes for the right guess, but whoever guesses right is entitled to have a big smug grin as big as the one on my face ;D

Fuel filter? Spark plugs? FPR? Coil packs? Cat? The petrol?
(Can't think of any more fuel related things now ;))

Cam/crank sensor?

We've been here before Jonny, you cured it for 3 days and it came back :(

Well done Bruce....cam sensor ;)

Yes I know I've cured it for 3 days before, but this time around, the car, from cold, was running perfectly, whereas before it always seemed sluggish until it had warmed up :)

I can't believe it was the about the only sensor I didn't replace...I honestly didn't think that would be a cause, & it wasn't suggested that it could have been, as far as I can remember.

But this time I'm certain, because even with the car hot & ticking over for a while, there isn't even the slightest hint of a crack when accelerating 8)

So how many thousands of pounds does a cam sensor go for these days? :)

Jonny, wasn't sure that the Scorpio had one, just a fluke guess after all the trouble I've been having. I thought the EDIS replaced all that to be honest...

Jonny, hope you've sorted it for good but if it does come back I can do you a scan and get some live data like ignition advance, fuel trims etc...might as well make use of the software now I've got it ::)

Yea cheers Pete, it's fine...been pink free for over a week ;)

Still can't believe it was a dodgy cam sensor & that I didn't try changing it before ::)....

Oh well, I suppose that during the 'pink period', I learned alot more about the car than I would have if it hadn't pinked :)
