Title: Re: Overdrive switch not working Post by Highlander on Jun 17th, 2007, 8:30pm could be the switch connections in the selector? Can you try another selector? |

Title: Re: Overdrive switch not working Post by bobs505050 on Jun 17th, 2007, 9:23pm Thought it might be something simple how do you get the selector out is it possible that a wire is off the gear box not sure how it works to be honest |

Title: Re: Overdrive switch not working Post by bobs505050 on Jun 17th, 2007, 10:49pm what happens is car drives perfect in d overdrive engages properly at about 55mph the problem is the switch on gearstick does nothing od light on dash does not come on at all the only way is to use kickdown for overtaking i had a 2.3 model before this one and switch on stick took it in and out of overdrive on demand |

Title: Re: Overdrive switch not working Post by Highlander on Jun 17th, 2007, 11:10pm Yep i'd definitely have a look at the wiring in the switch then. The wood effect plastic surround below the selector just prises up, do it slowly and at the four corners, they usually come up ok but sometimes the pins break. The black plastic domed part just pulls up, its just a push fit on small plastic clips. Then you'll see everything ;) You can remove the top of the selector but it sometimes doesnt fit back together properly |

Title: Re: Overdrive switch not working Post by Highlander on Jun 17th, 2007, 11:48pm The wires dont go straight from the selector to the box, they go all round the car first :) theres a green multiplug for the selector just below it, you'll see it once the covers are removed. I would try and short the switch wires first and see if you can get the O/D light to come on |

Title: Re: Overdrive switch not working Post by TiberiuS on Jun 17th, 2007, 11:50pm ;D Ask Jonny...and he's only got a 2.3 ;) The problem is normally that it won't go into O/D, I haven't heard of anyone yet who can't do the opposite. But yeah, the switch was great on the 2.3, could really take off at 70mph like that. |
