Title: Mot fail Post by kittman on Jul 13th, 2007, 6:32pm My 95 cossie estate failed the mot on emissions(amongst other things), the guy recons it was o2 sensors on the exhaust . Is there any way I can find out which one is faulty and how much do they cost to replace. Had a scan done last week and it showed it was running rich on both sides P0171 P0174. |

Title: Re: Mot fail Post by dan_the_man on Jul 14th, 2007, 12:52am you can often fudge an emmissions test by removing the air filter . I understand this aint a long term solution. |

Title: Re: Mot fail Post by Highlander on Jul 14th, 2007, 8:45am Not heard of that one about the air filter, how does that work? If you give the car a long hard run before the MOT to properly warm the cats up that can help |

Title: Re: Mot fail Post by kittman on Jul 14th, 2007, 10:26am I did about 30 miles of motorway before the mot so cats should have been warmed up nicely |

Title: Re: Mot fail Post by scorpio_man on Jul 14th, 2007, 11:32am hi there have a read of .... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/fuelmonitor.htm you can check the sensors out using a meter (not easy, but do-able), set to 1 volt. this is where VE software makes it a bit easier; you can 'see' what's going on. i'd say it was more than just faulty lambda sensors; they'd should show up as codes. more like the fuel pressure regulator or cat(s). :-/ again, this is checkable with VE, if you can find a member nearby with a lead. hth |
