Title: possible,injector problem
Post by vincent48 on Aug 3rd, 2007, 8:40pm
hi all another newbie, long story short, nephew pranged his scorpio which he bought 10 months ago, crumpled wing and smashed headlight, single crack in front bumper,he then reversed and cracked rear bumper.anyway car stood for 4 months and tax was running out so he offered it to me for nothing.blew tyres up charged battery started first time, drove 5 miles urban to my house so couldnt go through drive program although it drove very well.when i stopped at my door i heard what sounds like a clicking noise from the back of the engine,i thought it was one of the camshafts but it is more like a sharp clicking noise.i have not heard this noise before even after owning every type of granada made(not 24 valve)it seems to be firing and running ok on all 4,would it do so with a sticky or shorting out injector?i cant get access to the car at the moment because of lack of space in my friends garage, atlantic blue has sorted a headlight for me and i have straightened the wing out, nearside wheel arch is a bit rusty but no problem, the car is a95 2 ltr 16 valve manual saloon with 73k on it.have'nt had time or space to check inner sills or rear subframe mountings but seem the same as granada.since finishing work i have been driving a 92 cavalier(i know but it passed the mot last week and in 2 years has cost me £60 for an exhaust and £2 for an earth strap)last car 93 2ltr granada apart from front discs cost me nothing but had to go.i have repaired my own and other peoples cars for 40 years but must admit to being a bit over awed by the ancillary problems of this car,why so many changes from the granada in such a short time?btw can bumper be temporarily strengthened and if so with what till it goes through mot and i see if it is worth persevering with, bumper is all in tact,no pieces missing.sorry i lied about making this story short.thanks again eric......regards and thanks to all...john

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think they have hydraulic tappets. So, it needs and oil change and a good run, that should quieten it down nicely  :)

PS Welcome to the site John  8)
