Title: steering
Post by NormanHall on Jul 13th, 2009, 6:43am
97 2.9 12v This has just started to happen I can drive for miles and everything is perfect, then on the odd occasssion when I turn to the left the steering wheel seems to become stiff and needing a little bit extra effort to turn it.   it is though there is a high spot that has to be overcome, it worries me as this might get worse.

never guess what, the wrong oil filter and the steering clamp was catching it, correct oil filter fitted according to parts man, but should be filter for old granada v6

After changing cats I wondered why there is a knocking sound everytime I turn the wheel. Reason: the steering rod joint (probably the same part as the clamp?) caught on to the LHS exhaust manifold heatshield (LHD car).
