I had to go out today in the Scorpio and without any warning the gearbox has started to behave very erratically, refusing to change out of 1st in drive, snd when in '2' changes up & down when it feels like it.
It has never done anything like this before. The only thing I can think off is that all this salt, slush and snow has got into a sensor of something.

Presumably you have checked the MAF sensor,I had a 24v that acted dreadfully,not dissimilar to yours,and that was all it was.

I haven't checked anything at all as yet, it was too d**n cold.
