Title: Cat rattle Post by Lazenby43 on Feb 11th, 2012, 3:52pm I seem to have this problem described on the Scorpio website. "..but the rattle was very loud. It sounded very similar to a cam rattle. Fault was traced to a broken ceramic element in the offside Catalyst. The noise transmitted through the exhaust manifold so that it sounded as if it was coming from the front" I thought it was a rattling heat shield but it isn't. Could anyone recommend a supplier of the nearside cat? 24V Cosworth. Any pitfalls? Any other likely problems? Thanks |

Title: Re: Cat rattle Post by scorpio_man on Feb 11th, 2012, 10:04pm http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/ remember that most patterned parts are slightly a different shape, so you might/will need to mess about it a bit to get it to fit. hth |

Title: Re: Cat rattle Post by PJDavis on Feb 11th, 2012, 10:08pm Lazenby The site has recently been a bit quiet. I have a 2.3 so can't answer your question. The one good thing about information on this site, is that no-one guesses. Because of that you may have to wait a wee while for a good informed answer. What I would say is that most of the aftermarket 'Cats' have no shield, and that doesn't seem to present a problem. Peter |

Title: Re: Cat rattle Post by Snoopy on Feb 12th, 2012, 8:13am There are several suppliers of after market cats. Have a search for past posts the subject has been well covered in the past. |

Title: Re: Cat rattle Post by michaelelise on Feb 12th, 2012, 9:26am Hi Lazenby43, I brought one n/s cat & one o/s cat for my 24v 1998 R reg from this person, click4carparts on ebay. Delivery excellent fitted straight on to the car no messing around does not come with the little gasket seal though but I managed to use the old one. I paid £81.44 delivered on the 1/8/11 for the o/s cat. Hope this helps michael |

Title: Re: Cat rattle Post by Lazenby43 on Feb 12th, 2012, 11:55am That's most helpful. I had tried the buyparts site but they don't list exhausts and a search on the forum for recent posts didn't bring up much. Thanks again everyone. |

Title: Re: Cat rattle Post by Tompion on Feb 13th, 2012, 3:13pm That's because you need to click on cat converters - petrol (they don't do the rest of the exhaust for the 24V). |
