Title: Water leak from rear of engine (2.3) Post by mk1_matt on Jan 4th, 2015, 10:46pm I seem to have a leak from the rear of the engine :-( and i cannot for love nor money seem to see where its from. Ive had mirrors and allsorts round the back and cant see anything apart from the rusty trail i can just see over the bellhousing and the dripping on the floor. I cant see any pipes round there. Is it possible the HG can be weeping or is there an obvious thing that breaks. I think there is a coreplug round there but with my menagery of mirrors that seems to look ok. Any help appreciated. Cheers. |

Title: Re: Water leak from rear of engine (2.3) Post by Tompion on Jan 5th, 2015, 10:26am As it’s a rusty trail could be insufficient anti freeze & blown a core plug in the cold weather – only say that on the basis I only see white trails from leaks on 50/50 mix. At the back of the head near the inlet manifold there is a blanking plate (where the stat is fitted on Galaxy’s) feel around there for a leak. Locations of core plugs here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/leaks.htm |

Title: Re: Water leak from rear of engine (2.3) Post by Jonnycab on Jan 17th, 2015, 2:26am Hi there...I've not owned a Scorpio for a couple of years now, so my knowledge is getting a little rusty (a bit like your leak) , but have you checked that it's not a leak from the heater matrix inlet/outlet pipes. From memory, the matrix pipes are made of plastic, which over the years goes brittle & cracks/breaks. Hope this helps :) UPDATE BY Simmo. This page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/acdrain.htm) gives information on where the pipes are located on the engine bulkhead. :) Update by Jonnycab....Simmo, that page is for the AC drain pipes. I was referring to the matrix pipes that enter/exit the bulkhead directly behind the back of the cylinder head :) |
