Title: Heated Screens Post by Glyn on Jan 31st, 2017, 5:55pm Both front and rear heated screens have suddenly stopped working, as have the heated mirrors. The switches light up when pressed and the fuses are intact, but no volts at the fuses. Is there something that the two systems share that can have affected the front and the rear ? Everything else appears to be ok ??? |

Title: Re: Heated Screens Post by Tompion on Jan 31st, 2017, 8:00pm Check if there's power to the relays R4 & R18. R5 is shown in the handbook as also rear screen but I think that's wrong it's for interior lights. You could check R21 which controls ignition on electrics but I'd have thought you'd have other problems. It could be a problem with cental timer but once again I'd expect other problems. |

Title: Re: Heated Screens Post by Tompion on Jan 31st, 2017, 8:22pm The engine has to run for the front to work but the rear just needs the ignition on. |

Title: Re: Heated Screens Post by Tompion on Jan 31st, 2017, 8:44pm You could try the central timer diagnostic. The site gives a different method, but all I ever do is press & hold the rear screen button whilst I turn the ignition on (not start). When the button is released you should get a couple of bongs to show it's in diagnostic mode. If you hold in either screen button you should get a continuous sound to show it's connecting through the timer. The same will happen if you open a door or the glovebox. If you should just get a continuous sound as soon as you're in diagnostic mode check the glovebox switch to see if that's not turning off. |

Title: Re: Heated Screens Post by Glyn on Feb 1st, 2017, 12:16am Thanks for the replies. I did check for power on R4 R5 and R18 and have 12v on two pins on each socket. The switches do time out as do the interior lights. The diagnostic mode checks out ok and the only other thing I can find is that the glovebox light does not come on-I will have to check that tomorrow. |

Title: Re: Heated Screens Post by Glyn on Feb 2nd, 2017, 3:34am Well, can't investigate further because the fault has corrected itself (unless I disturbed something) Both screens heating normally (not been able to check the mirrors yet) If it happens again I'll be back on here. Thanks to all concerned |

Title: Re: Heated Screens Post by Simmo on Feb 12th, 2017, 9:02am If the crack is deep enough to fracture the elements then I'm sure it would. |
