Hi,

Does anybody know where I can purchase a set of front wishbones as these now appear to have been made obsolete by the usual third party suppliers (QH, Febi etc).

Failing that, do the earlier Granada wishbones fit or even Sierra?

You can still get left hand ones from various places online, but right hand ones are VERY scarce indeed.
I managed to get the last right hand one off (I think) Motor Doctor about 4 years ago for my Dad's 2.0 Ultima, and have only seen a few for about £2/300 each since. With hindsight, I probably should've bought one anyway!

There are some threads on here from several years ago where people were looking into removing the old balljoints and finding a suitable one from another car to press in, though I'm not aware of anybody ever managing to do one.

It's things like this that are likely to see the already dwindling numbers of these cars reduced to nought sadly. There will always be somewhere that can manufacture the part you need, it's just a matter of whether the cost is justifiable.

I have just stripped down my drivers wishbone to see what can be done.

I have ordered a Probe balljoint and will hopefully get the arm machine/drilled to accept the new one.

I'll keep you posted...............

Been looking at these too. Wonder if a fabrication service would be worth a try. There must be a bit if demand building up now for Scorpio wishbones. Can find fabricators (on google) but they all seem more focused on race/restoration projects.

One that looked a likely candidate is DJM Motorsport (https://www.djm-motorsport.co.uk/Manufacture_Suspension.html) - they can 3D scan existing parts to then fabricate to any spec (mild steel I believe). If I still had my cossie I'd be tempted to at least enquire.

Pick up is up on ramps and just been looking at these bottom wishbones. They look like cast and very solid in comparison to the usual folded metal type modern cars have.
Also looks like an aftermarket tubed one could be mad up to replicate it quite readily with a plate on it for future balljoint replacement. Dont need to do mine yet thankfully.
