Title: 24V BOB - missing a tooth? Post by Jackattack2002 on Nov 15th, 2024, 8:46am After months and months of fixing endless issues, I still cannot get the BOB to run properly at low revs and am beginning to conclude one of the camshafts may have slipped a tooth. Is there any way to prove this prior to stripping the top end of the engine down? The final remaining symptoms are spluttering at low (<2K) revs, with low compression and an overheating plug on No 2 cylinder. Everything else has been changed or repaired and the car starts first time every time on the key. No engine codes appear on the scanner. Are these symptoms consistent with a slipped cam? |

Title: Re: 24V BOB - missing a tooth? Post by admin on Nov 27th, 2024, 11:34am It's definitely worth checking - the tensioners tend to wear out and then snap the chain (ask me how I know!) resulting in a flappy chain that can then either jump a tooth or snap completely resulting in bent valves. It's a pretty complex job but can be done with the engine in situ. Check to see if you have a really loose chain. |
