Title: two spares Post by bobtheyop on Apr 19th, 2006, 7:59am hello gang, my two spare cars have to go,so if anybody's interested one is a 2.9 12v ultima, with engine and gearbox intact, and tidy bodywork, the other's a cossie, blown head but with gearbox, good bodywork except for the roof which was picked up by a hiab! one's burgundy, the other green. i can load them onto any flatbed with a 7 ton fork truck, looking for £100 for the both.mobile is 07886 028639, they're in swansea.i took off the 12v exhaust when i had it because it was in good nick, and wrapped it up so this is included as well, cheers, bob. :) |

Title: Re: two spares Post by adowds on May 19th, 2006, 7:18pm Cheers Dave, could be just the thing. The 15s just look a wee bit small on there - 16s would be better. Do you think I'd need to get a 16 inch spare too? I guess you wouldn't want to drive too far with one 15 inch wheel in the event of a puncture. Or would the rolling radius be that different? Do we reckon a 15 inch spare would be okay for emergency use? |
Title: Re: two spares Post by Mummra on May 19th, 2006, 7:39pm I reckon a 15" spare would not be a problem, alot of cars these days come with a space saver spare which is about half the size, so 1" difference to get you home would be fine. |
Title: Re: two spares Post by adowds on May 19th, 2006, 7:45pm Aye, reckon you're right. On that note - I was speaking to a woman the other week - a trainer on a course I was at. She was really angry - she'd been on holiday in France in her BMW 645 convertible. She got a flat near Carcassone at 7pm... and the car has no spare! No space saver, no aerosol, nothing. It has run-flat tyres - but this one had been so damaged as to be useless. So she had to be recovered to a hotel overnight, then to the BMW dealer next day. Of course they had no tyre in stock (noone wants to stock a £500 runflat tyre...), and it would be six days before they could get one. Holiday ruined, she had to fly home, and the car will be transported back (costing her insurance firm thousands). So your £50k motor is effectively useless if you get a flat... Should have bought a nice Scorpio! |

Title: Re: two spares Post by Snoopy on May 19th, 2006, 7:49pm The difference between a 15 inch wheel with the correct tyre on and a 16 inch with the correct tyre on is MINIMAL .... so YES it is possible to use a 15 inch as the spare. |
