Well, I have just had the phone call from the garage and my head is definately cracked :(

They say they can get me a recon one for £450 but this would push the full repair bill over £1000 and I only paid £1200 for the car 6 weeks ago so if anybody can help I would be very greatfull (failing that I have a 97 'R estate for sale (minus head) in very good nick if anyone can trailer it away from Plymouth)

Well, I got one - £120 from Clydebank Dismantlers, it's arriving on Tuesday, & will be crack tested & skimmed before use, thanks all who looked, I feel a little happier today !
