Title: Re: 12v V6 instrument cluster Post by gozz on Aug 23rd, 2010, 8:53pm Stixy. Will that be the type 17 without computer screen ? as in all my 12v funeral cars,I shouldn't be raising your hopes because I don't have a spare one, however I did fit one from a 24v limo into a 12v car,it is a type 17 even though the 24v runs on the EEC V PCM,and the 12v on EEC IV.Where a computer screen and various extra warning lamps are fitted the panel has of course two multiplugs, the type 17 only the larger one.As far as I can deduce they are all interchangeable ie you could put a high spec panel into an EEC IV equipped car and by using the single multiplug, everything ESSENTIAL works,I have in fact done that in the past, and taken the thing to bits to remove or blank off those parts not required. I hope this babble might assist you in some small way. p.s. Thought of you on Saturday, took my propane Scorpio to Mr Mugglestone at 'Antons Gowt' not far from you. GOZZ. |

Title: Re: 12v V6 instrument cluster Post by Stixy on Aug 23rd, 2010, 9:18pm Thanks Gozz the plan is to fit it in my 2.0 mongrol . I have been lookng through the wiring diagrams and it seems the 12valve takes its rev counter pick up from the alternator . Before i took the 2.3 out i went through the wiring carefully and the only wires directly linking the EEC-V to the dash was the VSS and pulse wire for the trip computor . and when i connected the EEC-IV i connected its trip computor pulse wire to the dash and the trip computor seems to be working its just the rev counter i am having trouble but if i cant sort it i can live without it . Antons Gowt is about 9 miles from me :) if your ever up this way again let me know your welcome to pop in |

Title: Re: 12v V6 instrument cluster Post by gozz on Aug 23rd, 2010, 10:55pm Stixy. Would the 24v revs come off the alternator as well as the 12v ? hence that panel was ok in a 12v,but then the 16v one also worked in the 12v ?? very odd. It is a fact that,as you say the 12v alternator does the revs,if the belt is off,no rev counter I have found. When I put a 16v panel in a 12v with type 17,the low fuel warning pips operated much to my amazement, would have expected that to come via the second (smaller) multiplug :-/ The propane car is still at Antons Gowt,I took it on the trailer and left it with him to test the gas ECU,there is no output to number 4 injector, asked him to do it at his leisure, suppose it may be done in time for Christmas ;) I will be in for a brew when it,s done :) GOZZ. |

Title: Re: 12v V6 instrument cluster Post by Stixy on Aug 24th, 2010, 10:25pm Today i have been checking Microcat and the wiring diagrams there are 3 basic dash cluster's high Series/ low series/ diesel . And on all the rev counter calibration is done by a wire earthed through a resister 12v v6 earthed 24v not connected 4 cyl http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q289/the_fomoco_kid/dash.jpg So i dont need a dash cluster i need a resister ? the resister is located in the engine loom I am off to trawl microcat again |

Title: Re: 12v V6 instrument cluster Post by gozz on Aug 24th, 2010, 11:11pm Stixy. Would it be possible to ascertain the value of the resistor do you think, and obtain one from an electronics man ? a long shot I suppose ! I just weighed the remains of a 12v estate in,what a pain :( GOZZ. |

Title: Re: 12v V6 instrument cluster Post by Stixy on Aug 24th, 2010, 11:22pm If i could find out the value finding a suitable resistor wouldnt be a problem . But thats the problem so far i cant find anty refference to the value . I cant find it on microcat so if i get time i will pop to the scrapyard tomorow to see what they have got if anything |
