Title: Re: Dipstick Post by mk1boy on Dec 21st, 2011, 10:40pm One thing I will now always look for when buying a car is whether it has a dipstick. C'mon guys, honestly - would you check for something as obvious as that....? :-[ |

Title: Re: Dipstick Post by mk1boy on Mar 26th, 2012, 10:32pm Having searched high and low (well, just low) for the dipstick 'ole, I gave up. There isn't one. So I gave the car to a friendly mechanic to look at and he said the same thing. No 'ole, but there is a blank where one could be drilled. He says the engine is from something else that must have relied on an electronic oil level measuring system or somesuch nonsense. Any ideas? thanks |

Title: Re: Dipstick Post by gozz on Mar 27th, 2012, 12:02am A rarity indeed :o I suppose the Galaxy has a dipstick ? if so it would be at the front of the engine bay,as in the Scorpio it is on the nearside at the rear of the engine. There's a fair chance that these engines have been used in industrial applications whereby,as the man said,an electric gauge and possibly an electric engine cut out if the oil ran low. As Rodders pointed out, when buying a used vehicle you would always have a look what's on the dipstick and in the cooling system,in case somebody tries to palm you off with a faulty head gasket. GOZZ. |

Title: Re: Dipstick Post by 5stud on Mar 29th, 2012, 9:49am it will nowe be behind the cat so you cant see the old hole you might just feel it but its v tight.you cant just put a dipstick en ther ase the balancer shaft will eat the dipstick.if you have a galaxy sump on your motor it will have a slot in it to let the expipe throu. |
