Title: Scorp tdi r reg estate
Post by mikeart on Feb 28th, 2009, 8:53am
Hi i am going to put my Scorp on Ebay soon, why am i selling ... not sure i want to but have my eye on a Volvo estate, it is high mileage but being diesel not so important, i have spent over £500 on it, and i will be honest i paid £400 for it, the guy thought he was ripping me of, as it seemed it had a massive oil leak, turned out to be a small hole in the oil cooler pipe, now fixed, it has newish tyres all round, a new cambelt, new glow plugs, and a new hand brake cable, some damage to front bumper and a couple of small dents that will pull out, missing headlamp washers, oh and some scratches i have the spray paint for it, inside full leather seats etc, very clean and tidy, i am going to have a guy do a diagnostics on the electrics this coming Wednesday, as a problem with the wiper stalk, and rear screen washer, runs very well starts first time, pulled our caravan no problems, any way depending on Wednesday it will then go on Ebay, for £700, if any one on here wants it they can have it for £550, i live Kent and it can be seen almost any time, here are a few pics

"And what about that cambelt ? they usually have gears ! " Sorry i am no mechanic thats what the garage fitted for me, i had it done as a precaution after the car before seized, due to a busted cam belt thingy, as for the kids thay are great, the wife is also ... on a good day   ;D

Mike, a quote off this site,

"Well, you diesel owners, you have nothing to worry about. You don't have timing chains at ALL! The compression ignition engine works on much higher compression ratios than are to be found on the petrol variant, and timing chains are not ideally suited for this load.

The VM (Vitori manufactured) Diesel engine uses gears, skew-cut for quietness, to drive the cam and the injection gear".

The garage may have changed the auxiliary belt. How much were you charged and do you still have the invoice/receipt.   ???

I phoned my friend and it was the auxiliary belt, there was no charge for this, he is a family friend ... handy or what but they can not sort the wiper stalk, they even fitted a new one still it would not work hence the electrician coming out on Wednesday, i appreciate your time and your post thanks. ;) Ps, i forgot two new front disc brakes fitted about 1500 miles ago.

Is the car an ultima ? I ask because it looks like it has wheel trims rather than alloys.

Might be worth taking some other parts off if you have someone to do it and its getting scrapped anyway.

Parts worth some money and fairly easily removed would be :

Starter
Alternator
Diff
Coolant header tank
ABS unit
Turbo
Bumpers, especially the front one, damaged or not ;)
Lights
heads

I reckon that lot should be worth at least £500 to you ;)
