Looks in good nick, full service history and only 35,000 miles but a bit pricey for me ;)

Not so sure about the 6.5 secs 0-60 though ;)

can't believe that you're not buying it...

one note though, when i was buying my Scorpio I've been warned by a Ford specialist about a guy in Scotland who messes with the clock and then gives you an original Ford service history book with all original stamps etc + all kinds of receipts you can imagine... and you can't tell without a further inspection if the car actually has 30k or 330k on the clock...

35k mileage for '95 car doesn't seem real...

Looking at the state of the condenser and the lack of rust on the coil bracket I'd say 35k is likely to be genuine.

well you can't really tell without an inspection. hope it is genuine cause somebody is getting a nice car in that case but i doubt it...

I saw that and wondered about the 600 miles per tank, is he sure it wasn't on metric??? Otherwise that's about a 40 gallon tank isn't it? Way I drive it would be anyway. ;)

It does NOT appear to have any A/C from what I can see ... may be I 'm going blind  I'll have to check on the other system

No you're right - no ac - unless it's been removed that makes it VERY early - one of the first off the production line probably.  (I don't think it's been removed as the panel in the thingypit is an AC one either).

Is that a radaitor at the front then - not the condenser?

The reason for no aircon is probably because it's only a ghia, my old '95 N reg 2.0 ghia didn't have aircon either  :)

Couldn't agree more, much better to spend your hard earned on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-FORD-SCORPIO-ULTIMA-24V-AUTO_W0QQitemZ230338418983QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item230338418983&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 if you ask me. Then you could spend the other £1550 on 10 spare scorpios to fix it up with  ;)
And it's a much better colour (not that I'm biased  ;D)

According to both the DVLA vehicle check & Auto Trader vehicle check, this car is registered as being BLACK  ???

Looks as though this car may have been resprayed at some point, & possibly that's the reason why the paintwork is so immaculate with no rust or dents anywhere. Even with such a low mileage, surely you'd expect to see some kind of age related rust/blemishes/paint chips etc somewhere on the bodywork.

It does seem as though there is something about this cars history that is not being revealed  :-/

.......Unless there has been a typo error by the DVLA, it has been known  ::)

i dont think that car is black,i think it is aubergine.that one really looks the part ,seems genuine enough.the battleship grey one has an air of "too good to be true"regarding the milage.i know that the clocks arent able to be altered(according to website)but with technology today anything can be altered.
theres more chips now in the average house than there is in harry ramsdens

I was talking about the 'battleship grey' one  ;)....If you do a vehicle enquiry & type in it's number plate 'M435 XEV' HERE (http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/), it states that the colour should be black  :)

Well sleuthed Jonny, and if you look at the pic showing the underside of the bonnet it's black, shouldn't the underside be the same colour as the body?
Also, no pics of door jams etc where original colour would show.

hi there

it's a 1/1995 nantucket grey car. inside the bonnent on dark coloured cars is always black. on light cars it's cream.

it may have been one of the cars that alan? something was trying to shift for years on autotrader. remember there was at least 2 of them for silly money.

still think we would have heard about it before now, though. :-/

OMG checked mine today and it's black! I'm sure I've seen facelift cars on ebay with body colours under the bonnet though, was it only pre-facelift that were as above?

While on the subject of anomalies, have you seen this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-FORD-SCORPIO-ULTIMA-12V-AUTO-RED_W0QQitemZ160330451758QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item160330451758&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
First 2896cc cossie 12v I've seen. How could this be?

Title: Re: Heres one in Scotland I wont be buying! :)
Post by big_timer on Apr 25th, 2009, 5:43am
the 2.9 12v was dropped early 1997 and replaced by the 2.9 24v cossie.so its either a pre-facelift one  with the facelift lights, rear light cluster etc retro fitted or a new engine fitted to the car,or it might even be one that got through the net between the engine changeover and the registering of the car.but i think its just that the owner has made a mess of posting.mine is a 1997 pre-facelift ultima registered 1998
im so confused even writing this ;D

p.s. i think it has rear parking sensors which were a cost option from 1996

I think the engine size is a typo It looks like a face lift . but I will check. ;)
Yes it has to be a typo its a 2/98 build  cosworth so it will be a genuine facelift , according to the info I have .

Talking of typo errors, my registration form for my 2.3 states the engine size as being 2306cc  ::)
