Title: The greatest car site Post by jonnycab on Mar 14th, 2007, 3:23am I've been a member on this site for just over a year now, since I bought my 2nd Scorp (used to have a peek every now & then when I had the first one) ;) Since that time I've built up my lost confidence in car maintenance :) I used to think that it was only possible to fix old cars & that new cars with PCMs etc, were beyond the scope of the un-trained mechanic. Oh boy...was I wrong....this site is better than a Haynes manual....not only does it provide what Haynes never printed, but it goes a step further in providing almost real time advice (forums) with any jobs that you might want to attempt.........A job is a lot less daunting, when you know that someone else has done it ;) If I'd done a college course, I don't think I'd have learned as much in a year as I have on this site.... ......It's even made me realise what some of the strange noises that come from my MK1 Granny suspension are....& I'm no longer scared to investigate ;D Many newbies may think that because I've got over 1200 posts to my name, that I may be an expert.... .....Far from it..... :P I only know what I've experienced with my Scorp & couldn't advise on things that I haven't had a problem with. But as they say...'Once half the puzzle is complete, then the rest of the bits fall into place' ;) I suppose, after all that praise, it means I'll have to give another donation now ::)......;) |

Title: Re: The greatest car site Post by Simmo on Mar 14th, 2007, 9:19am Having a 'procedure' named after you is no mean achievement either!! ;) (For those who are new it involves ridding the cooling system of airlocks). |

Title: Re: The greatest car site Post by petehull on Mar 14th, 2007, 10:30am [] [] [] You are 110 percent right, if you were to, (and I have) ask mechanics half of the questions asked on here they either wouldn't know the answer or wouldn't want to share it with you, it's as if they are frightened you will do them out of a job.... ??? Keep up the good work everyone. 8) Pete |

A fantastic field of information and always friendly. Thanks! :) |
