Title: 3000 Miles to Graceland ??? Post by Ultima2300 on Apr 4th, 2007, 9:29pm So I've spent the last month trying to hold down my job and chasing after my 79 year old mother who had a heart attack at the beginning of March. My lovely Scorpio which had 61k on the clock, has just passed 64k. Not a wimper, not a problem. The car has been quiet and fast racing from Manchester to Burnley and back every single day. Even the ABS light has finally gone out. I've got to say the economy has been remarkable, that 2 litre engine has been my saving grace. 350 miles to a tankful, even pushing it to 90mph @ 4000rpm (allegedly officer) ;) Good news is, the cars great...and Mum is home and on the mend. Best wishes to all Geoff |

Title: Re: 3000 Miles to Graceland ??? Post by mr._floppy on Apr 4th, 2007, 9:47pm Yes indeed, a reliable car is what's needed when important things happen. You don't want to be on the hard shoulder with a empty rad when you're needed at the hospital . The more spiritual among you ( like the wife, gawd help us ) will swear a car has a concsience and knows when a journey is very important, so it doesn't break down. :) But it will on the way to work. :-/ |

Title: Re: 3000 Miles to Graceland ??? Post by Spannerdemon on Apr 4th, 2007, 10:09pm Glad your Mum's OK. My Mum is 90, and I had a similar situation last year. All our Mums are very special people. The Scorpio got me from Torquay to Dorchester Hospital no problem. Reliability is top notch with these cars. ;) |
