Post by rich1 on Apr 7th, 2012, 8:22pm
well maybe i never learn but ive gone and bought another scorpio . 2.3 ghia x 1998(s reg) , went and had a butchers on friday and it turned out to be even better in the flesh than it did in the photos , its black with only a tiny scuff on the front bumper , but that is it , for a 14 year old car it is in fantastic condition, its got the 7 spoke alloys which i dont like but ive got a set of 12 spokes ready to go on(cheers gozz) and it hasnt got cruise control which i will miss but im sure i will get over it . picking it monday so once ive given it a polish i'll post some pics
btw its got full ford service history and its only done 82k . roll on monday!!!

"... it hasnt got cruise control which i will miss...."

Could I just ask what you do with your right foot when you have cruise on? Just wondering if you keep it just there, by the throttle pedal.
That's what I do and I cannot for the life of me understand what the point of cruise control is.
There was of course the Septic who had it on a camper...sorry..RV...and wandered out the back thinking CC would steer as well.....but none of us would think that, would we.
I think CC is the most useless extra ever dreamed up. I think all sorts of odd things. Happy Easter everyone.

i love the cruise control , came back from peterbro today there is average speed cameras on the a14 so i stick the c/c on and relax , its pretty much one straight road a14/m11 and i find it such a relaxing drive . made all the better by the scorpios fantastic comfy seats , music on, cigarette, and a cup of coffee and mobile phone switched off , its heavem ;D

I've never managed to drive at the same speed for more than perhaps half a mile before something occurs causing me to adjust speed. Maybe late at night it might be useable. Britain's roads are too congested it seems to me.

Not a fan of CC  >:(
Agree, UK roads are too congested, maybe OK for motorway use...but the only time I've ever really used it was in Florida, driving up the Interstate from Naples to Orlando - I set the CC on as it is a long [ 150 miles+ ] straight road...downside is that even on the relatively flat roads of Florida, the CC is constantly 'feathering' the throttle and I found it used a good 10% ~ 15% more fuel.
Hence, not a fan.

I love CC.   I brought 'Aunty' back virtually the whole way on CC.   Good for setting at a 'camera' speed, and great for the motorway.   Up here in the far North, the roads are less congested, when I came up the A9 from Perth starting at 10.30pm the night I brought Aunty home I counted 27 cars passed in both ways for the whole 108 miles!   Once passed the cameras CC set at about 78mph.

well , i picked the motor up today , the verdict? love it !!!! will post pics if it ever stops raining . im convinced that if ford had made more of these in black theyd have been a lot more of a sucess . black just seems to suit the car . still undecided about the 7 spoke alloys tho .
