PATS 1:6 No comms with EECV

Hi, A friend of mine has a 2.3 auto, which was running, but 3 weeks ago the battery went flat and after changing the batrery the car would crank, but not start. PATS Led is blinking rapidly and then shows a code 1:6, which means that PATS has no communication with EECV. We tried the PATS bypass hack, which has worked for us on different cars, but after powering up the relay, the PATS Led still continued to flash and the car would now not even crank, nothing happened when the key was turned. So I have 2 questions: 1. How should I investigate the 1:6 code, if the PATS is integrated into the PCM? I'm guessing that the no communication this is just the result of something else not working. 2. Should the PATS bypass shut up the Led light?

I once had this problem after changing a battery and it caused me an enormous amount of grief. Cranking but not starting is probably due to an earth lead not being reconnected when the battery was changed. It can drop down out of sight at the side of the battery on the earth side. I subsequently found that the missing earth had also caused the petrol pump relay to be damaged so when you get it running, be prepared for further faults. MODERATOR:- Indeed a common cause. Small thin wire.

Hi, once again. Because no electrician wanted to deal with this issue, I have become the proud owner of this mint scorpio, that doesn't start. I'm starting to look into the wiring diagrams, will check all the fuses and relays in the evening. Does somebody have wiring diagrams for the PATS and PCM connections? The only thing that is certain - all wires are connected to the battery correctly, engine wiring has been renewed, EDIS wires are mint. MODERATOR The wiring diagrams for the PATS HAVE NEVER BEEN AVAILABLE TO US ON THE FORUM. The main wiring diagrams are still available on the link in " HOW TO D THINGS" Good Luck

You can bypass PATS (to get it to crank) by using jumpers in the "start inhibit" relay location, but I would also try the red master key first. I am pretty sure that PATS is inbuilt into the EECV

| The engine cranks ok, but doesn't run, so there is no need to jump the start inhibitor. Meanwhile, I've done some digging. Manage to find out that all grounds to the PCM are good, but PIN 97 on PCM which get's power from Fuse 37 is looking suspicious. While there is continuity in the wire, voltage should be 12v at RUN position, but voltmeter does show only 0.45 V. After removing the battery side fuse box I found many wires with a slightly broken insulation and two that were completely bare and right next to each other (Green connecotr). Will need to investigate further.
