| Just came acros this one from way back, which no one seems to have responded to. There is no ignition timing to adjust, it is all under the automatic control of the engine management system which advances and retards the ignition under the control of a computer system known as the EEC-IV. There is one sensor which provides the above with a pulse at top dead centre (I believe) as a reference point and the actual firing point is then decided by the EEC-IV based upon its inputs from its other sensors.

Not strictly true, if you mess with the distrubter at all you have to reset the timming in service mode to 15 degree BTDC then when the ECU takes over it runs at about 30 BTDC but then varies depending on sensor readings. There is no sensor that detects TDC only the distrubter which you need to adjust but only if you mess with it.

| I stand corrected. Mine is lacking the distributor arc shield. What was the purpose of these and might it have been deliberately ommited from this particular production run deliberately? All I can think of is as extra screening to possibly cut down radio interference.
