Oil being pumped in to cooling system

I have just recently replaced the head gasket on my 2.3 'P' Plate Scorpio. I had the head skimmed, vacuum tested, pressure tested, valves re-cut and had to buy the Ford head kit as no spurious ones were available. I am a mechanic and have been for over 25yrs, but this one has stumped me. I have put it all back together and it runs superbly but i have found that oil is being pumped into the cooling system. Have you ever heard of this at all please ?

Many thanks, Mike

hi there

are you losing oil? or could it be the left overs of the h/g/f?

also, the 2.3 has a nasty habbit of cracking the head. see the pictures on our msn group site.

Andrew, If it has been both vacuum tested and pressure tested then the head should be fine.
I would go with oil still in the rad, I must have flushed mine a dozen times and still had signs of oil in the water, Only got rid by changing the rad.
I take it is not overheating or getting any pressure build up in the cooling system Undecided

Fairy Liquid is a good product to flush through, it breaks down the oil, ask Ainsley Harriet.
I have done this in the past, Suds everywhere..... Cheesy

The oil cooler could also be at fault the one under the filter, or the gear box oil cooler incorporated in the Front Main Radiator. I have known those to fail and gearbox oil get into the cooling system that way.
I would go for the gear box one myself as th e MOST likely culprit.
