The long white MK1 is a Coleman Milne conversion of a MK1 Coupe..... I have a brochure somewhere!!

This was on a forum I found:

"I own one of the Grosvenor Coupe stretches. As far as I know there were twelve cars built.

According to my own research over the years, there have been six banger raced, one scrapped, one written off brand new and there are three currently left on the road.

My own one is gold with a brown vinyl roof. The two others are on the show circuit in England, one is black and the other is white with a black vinyl roof."

I didn't need to find mine... these were on another Granada forum already!!

I would far rather see the old disused hulks on the destruction track Baz,surely it's better to give the banger fraternity some pleasure rather than commit the cars straight to the crusher. One of my breaker Cossie limos went to the Kings Lynn track, the bloke paid me more than scrap price, and let me keep half the car, they put carburettor  engines and manual boxes in to avoid electronic complexity.
On a slightly different tack,do you know why they don't suffer so called 'whiplash' injuries ? Simple, there is nobody to sue  Cool

I agree with Baz re the banger fraternity. Mindless nonsense. Thankfully the RAC never recognised it as a motor sport - do you remember Spedeworth was it? I think they set themselves up as the governing body. Having said that, the bloke I use for welding is into this: races Triumph 2.5 PI's, and he is a brilliant bloke. Real old school proper pukka kosher stuff if you know what I mean, always asks for a fifteen pound note when he does a job for me, so they're not all villains Wink
was going to say I had a Granada 2.8i Ghia X years ago like that one in the photo - not as good as a Scorpio, but a very nice car. Big leather seats and nice alloy wheels (some dodgy metric size, mind) - it was mineral blue. Lovely colour, happy memories.

I had the 2.8i ghia X 1983 in blue with grey leather. All the extras you could want except for cruise. Kept the car for eighteen years and loved every minute of it . Definitely happy memories. Grin

Mine was B reg, 84?? and it had cruise control on the steering wheel if I remember correctly. Useless extra that, as I've droned on about on here before.
Only had mine a few years though, it was about two years old when I bought it. Somewhere I have a photo of it with our caravan on the back, it made a very stylish couplet! If I remember correctly the fan belts became very noisy in the later days and I flogged it in p/ex for my wife's Honda Accord Aerodeck estate which was also a particularly good car, apart from the cloth seats though...not up to Scorpio class! Excellent hifi I remember.

My dad was the Chauffeur at a large chemical company in Warrington and he always had Granada Ghias (Except for a couple of times when profits were down!!)...

TTF 973L... Monza Blue 3.0 MK1 GXL (No ghias then!)
HEY 553N - Dark Blue 3.0 MK1 Ghia
AHG 5R - Dark Blue 3.0 MK1 Ghia
SLV 618T - Dark Blue 2.8 MK2 GL
FMA 4X - Black 2.8i MK2 Ghia
B444 FMA - Black 2.8i MK2 Ghia

Then he retired..... amazed I can still remember the numbers though!!

I had 3 x Mk2 Granadas
2.3 GL auto in a VERY bright green metallic finish- only had it for about a month, sold it as the fuel economy was worse than my Jeep - can't recall the reg number though.
2.8 Ghia auto in Champagne Gold - A 836 RKE - had it for just over a year, very nice car but never could get it running smoothly and the auto box played up a bit...sold it to get the next one which was the best of the lot. Grin
A very rare 2.8i Injection Estate - 5spd manual in white - A 995 OPU - this had the sports suspension pack, Recaro interior, black instead of chrome trim, colour coded bumpers and white TRX alloys - kept it for about 10 years till the tin-worm got the better of it. Tyres were a pain to find and very expensive  Angry
Sold it to a guy who said he was going to restore it but I reckon he had 'Banger Racer' written all over him  Angry
Then I had a Mk3 2.9i Granada Scorpio estate auto in metallic red - L 997 AJT - kept it for about 6 years till I traded it in for my Scorpio which I still have but is currently SORN'd and garaged.

Banger Racers may be bad news to owners, but think how many other nondescipt "motors" they take with them before they enter the big yard in the sky.
