dose removing cat = better performance?

Hi with ref to my previous post on lack of performance compared with my 1990 Scorpio. It was sugested replace cat with straight pipe to get performance back. Dose this really work, is the cat such a performance blocker. Have I got to upgrade to a Cosworth version Scorpio to get back to 1990 performance

hi there simple answer, YES. i'm running my 2.3 lpg cat-less at the moment. we think it's +15bhp to 165 bhp or there abouts! i'll be getting my lpg conversion set up on a rolling road/dyno soon, so i'll post back when i get the print out. hth
