In the old days you mixed this 4 to 1.
But I sure I read that today you put in the anti-freeze in neat no water.
Anyone know for sure what it should be please.

Neat, If you were going to the pole maybe, It should tell you on the bottle or give you a chart of ratios and to what temp they will protect at these ratios.
Was it on ready mixed that you read this ?, Don't buy ready mixed go for the good stuff and add your own water.

I was mixing myself some last week.
I've always done it 50/50 but this time I decided to actually read the bottle. Can't remember what it said exactly - will look later, but I think it was something like 4:1 Water:Antifreeze.
Thats for our 'normal' temperatures.

i would not buy ready mix. There are no instructions on the container whatsoever. I only use geniune Ford spares and antifreeze.
So I just got my Ford Owners Handbook out. On page 107 it says a mixture of 50% water and 50% antifreeze.
Right that's it, straight out of the horses mouth.
Why did I not think of looking in the handbook before I left this posting?
Still anyone else who does not have a handbook, will now know for sure. Anyway thanks to Paul B and Richard.
O yes its saying that you should keep this in all year round to stop corrosion. I always do anyway.
Another point would you beleive that my Ford Main Dealer a few months ago on a major service phoned me to say my car had done just 60,000 miles and I should have both brake fuild and coolant changed at this time £60 each job. I let them do the brake fuild but I did the Antifreeze myself for £14. This being the cost of anti-freeze 50/50 and I still had some over, geniune Ford.

You can also buy a tester that looks a bit like a hydrometer that you use for testing your battery,You simply put this in your expansion tank, squeze the bulb and then look on the scale to find out what strength the anti-freeze is.

On Tuesday my car is in for new coolant, brake fluid, both auxillary belts and wheel alignment/tracking.
Will let you know the cost.

no they did not change the fluid, but charged the £60 + vat. mind you there was a lot of other items on the Ford Service manual they did not do.
Still it cost them £4000 + £1700 costs and the chap that did or should have done the work find £150.
I got the newspaper cutting from my local newspapaer. and it turned out that two years ago Trading Standards took them to court and they where fined then.
What I thinking there must be a lot of other cases which the owners have not rubbled.
Well, I been banned from there now, (CAN'T IMAGINE WHY) Still I was not going there any more myself. The sheer high costs they charge is disgusting.
