It was an extra cost option (I think) but became standard sometime in 1996 (again - I think ) It's all mentioned somewhere in here... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/specifications.htm

Hey Mr-Floppy, I presume yours is a car not an estate. Well there was one on ebay. Madmanscorpio guy but it past now. You can send him an email, I mean he always breaking scorpios all the time. I got a 1998 saloon 2.3 scorpio, I will look to-morrow, (its dark now) I think it sits on the parcel shelf. you can get not scorpio ones that stick on the glass. I not to keen on them, I like to keep the cars as they where. But I just got a light off Manmanscorio for an estate. My one was march 1996 but some time later they had them as standard, I thinking November 1996 onwards. So it came with all the bits and trim need to change other. On the estate its going to be so easy, the wiring will just go down behind the trim. You do need to realise that the light on the estate goes high up at the top of the door, where the car it does not it sits on the parcel shelf. I will look for sure to-morrow.

The rear hi level stop lamp fitted on the saloons , dose in fact sit on the parcel shelf... To retro fit you would really need the parcel shelf out or the back window... the space is already there along with the captive nuts for the bolts........ but fitting them is a nightmare ... I ended up putting bolts with seperate nuts on in from underneath..... You do need to cut the parcel shelf covering off to get it to fit snug..... just takes time ........I wired direcly into the rear brake light harness......cut /splice and solder covered with heatshrink....

yes Mr. Snoopy quite right, this morning i looked at the 1998 saloon car. The brake light sits down on the parcel shelf, just like the radio speakers do. That one that was on Ebay, I remember that the picture showed the light and what looked like a base fitting plate.

Quick, can someone nip round Mr. Floppy's house and ring his door bell. There is a scorpio rear parcelshelf brake light on Ebay now, got 7 days to run. Its item number 4515939887, first bid price of £9.99 plus P&P of £4. It shows that base plate as well as the light unit as well.
