Auto-Box Filter

As all auto owners know, the colour of the fluid is an indication of the state of the internal workings of the auto-transmission, red means all is fine , brown could mean contamination from deteriorating seals and linings . As changing the fluid and internal filter is a real bind and expensive, getting to the point , thanks goodness!, now, the autobox has pipework and a cooler radiator at the front of the engine, is it not possible to easily fit an in-line filter ( like those little petrol ones ) to the pipework thus filtering out the nasty contaminants before they further damage the box?
